full-time employment as Lead Engineer

A company in growing field of medical tourism, needs a strong senior Drupal developer to fill a permanent position in Ramat ha-Hayal, Tel-Aviv.



We are seeking a Lead Engineer to join our team. This candidate will have expert knowledge of PHP5 and Drupal CMS, alongside advanced knowledge of HTML5/Javascript/jQuery. As the Lead Engineer, someone who is passionate about leveraging Drupal as a platform, you should have the expertise to judge when to use a contributed module, write a custom module/ctools plugin, or outsource the work to outside contractor.



Primary responsibilities:



- Contributing to team that solves complex challenges and builds websites on Drupal and

- Work closely with project team in the development process.

- Deliver products that meet business goals.

- Play an important role in improving the team’s technical depth and efficiency.

- Understand the strengths and weaknesses of all resources and play to their strengths

- Must be able to work independently, make quick and informed decisions, and keep things moving



Duties:



- Lead development of new products: web sites, web applications, middleware applications

- Maintain and improve existing applications

- Mentor and support internal developers in their technical growth

- Research, vet or recommend new technologies and development practices



Requirements:



- Passionate about software development and web technologies.

- Expert level knowledge of development for Drupal platform, including theming, custom modules, installation profiles.

- Expert level knowledge in SQL and relational databases, PHP, Javascript and jQuery.

- Deep understanding of Drupal platform philosophy, expertise in modules and the “build vs buy” mentality

- 5+ years development experience with PHP and LAMP stack.

- 3+ years experience working with Drupal CMS platform for enterprise clients and/or complex requirement sets.

- Deep knowledge of hosting, UNIX, shell scripting, and LAMP-focused server-side technologies

- Excellent prioritization and time management skills

- Very good analytical skills, should be able to identify problems quickly and find optimum solutions fast

- Great communication and leadership skills, good at teamwork, fast decision maker



Desired experience - would be great but not required:



- Prior experience in online marketing and SaaS platforms

- Experience with bug tracking, continuous integration, and other productivity enhancement software.

- Varnish, memcache, nginx, CDNs, and/or other caching systems

- Experience building systems that scale to tens of thousands of concurrent users.

- Experience writing automated tests (phpUnit / code).

- Knowledge in Symfony2 framework
