Aval Payasam | Poha Kheer - How to Prepare!

Aval payasam recipe with step-by-step photos. Payasam s one of the easiest and fastest desserts to make. Like the Semiya payasam I shared a few days ago, this Aval payasam will take 20-25 minutes. So on holidays or convenient days, you can consider tarts as one of the simple dishes because they are easy to prepare.

Aval Payasam Recipe

Aval is the Tamil name for straw. Poha is flattened rice that is available in India. In the recipe, I used thick straw, but you can also use a thin straw. You can even use red straw. I couldn't post anything sweet for the Janmashtami festival. Today I am going to share with you this recipe for poha kheer that I prepared on the occasion of Janmashtami. Congratulations to everyone who is celebrating the Gokulashtami and Dahi Handi Festival. Aval Payasam is also loved by children. For the little ones, you can skip adding cashews and raisins or add dried fruit and walnut powder.

How to Make Aval Payasam

Take 2 tablespoons of butter in a heavy skillet or skillet and heat it over low to medium heat. When the butter melts, add 10 to 12 cashews (cashews). Start roasting the cashews over low heat. Roast the cashews until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and reserve. Then add 1 tablespoon of raisins. Stir the raisins frequently and fry them until puffed and full. Remove roasted raisins with a slotted spoon and set them aside. ½ Add a glass of thick straw. You can also use fine poha or Aval Payasam. We mix the poha/aval very well with the butter.

Begin to Roast Aval on a Low Flame Stirring Often

Fry until the Aval payasam changes color and has a light golden color. Instead of roasting, aval or poha can also be washed with water and then added directly to the boiling milk. Then add 2.5 cups of whole milk. Milk can be chilled, warmed, warmed, or at room temperature. Then add 1 pinch of saffron thread. Saffron is optional and can be omitted. Stir.

Keep the Flame to a Low

Keep the heat low and bring the piesam mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil the milk for 2 minutes. Stir occasionally, otherwise, the milk may froth and spill. Then add 4 tablespoons of sugar or add as needed. Add next? a teaspoon of cardamom powder. If you haven't added saffron, you can add ½ teaspoon of powdered cardamom. Stir very well to dissolve the sugar.

Final Steps

Continue boiling the avalanche for another 3-4 minutes. Scrape the solid parts of the powdered and steamed milk from the sides and add it to the milk. Put out the fire. Finally, add the roasted cashews and raisins and stir. You can reserve some cashews and raisins for garnish. Serve the Aval payasam cake hot or hot or cold.
